Lines, Motion and Vibrancy

Lines, motion and vibrancy are the elements that turn a boring subject in an interesting composition.

When I took this shot, the first thing I framed was the distribution of lines. While the horizontal and vertical lines create the geometry of the stairs, somehow setting up a static scene, the oblique lines come in contrast, breaking the static and accentuating the direction of the motion. Personally, I tend to desaturate the colors from my pictures unless they are interesting and enhance the shot. Otherwise, I don't want them to draw too much attention. In this particular case I really liked the colors and the way they shout. I also like the way in which the yellow and the red are divided by a straight oblique line, accentuating the movement even further.
